About the Tour
The tour takes place in Saleh Bay, Sumbawa, a location known for frequent whale shark sightings — especially around 6:00 AM, when local fishermen haul their catch using traditional bagang boats.As the nets are lifted, plankton and small fish attract the whale sharks, creating a magical opportunity to see and swim with them up close.

01:30 WITA – Early Morning Pickup
Our team will pick you up from your accommodation in Sumbawa Besar. Prepare for an exciting journey ahead. We’ll head eastward towards Tarano District in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. The early departure ensures the best chance to see the whale sharks at sunrise.
03:30 WITA – Arrive at Labuan Jambu Village
Upon arriving at Labuan Jambu Village, a peaceful fishing community, you’ll board a traditional local boat. The captain and our guide will take you across the calm early morning waters of Saleh Bay, heading toward the floating fishing platforms known as bagang.
05:30 WITA – Searching for Whale Sharks
As we approach the bagang area, we’ll carefully scan for signs of whale shark activity. This is the moment anticipation builds — local fishermen begin pulling up their nets, stirring plankton and small fish that attract the majestic whale sharks. Our guide will coordinate with the fishermen to identify the best platform to approach.
06:00 WITA – Snorkeling with Whale Sharks
Once a bagang with whale sharks is identified, we’ll anchor and begin your unforgettable experience. With provided snorkeling gear and safety equipment, you’ll gently enter the water and swim alongside these gentle giants — typically ranging from 5 to 10 meters in length.
The interaction is fully respectful to the animals. Our guides will give you clear instructions to ensure safety for both you and the whale sharks. While you’re in the water, our team will also capture underwater photos and videos.
07:00 WITA – Breakfast on the Sea
After the snorkeling session, enjoy a simple but warm breakfast on board or on the bagang, while taking in the tranquil beauty of Saleh Bay. Tea or coffee and mineral water are served, allowing you to relax and reflect on your unique ocean encounter.
08:00 WITA – Return to Labuan Jambu
We’ll begin the journey back to shore, with plenty of time to admire the coastline and surrounding islands. Depending on sea conditions, you may spot other marine life or traditional fishing boats.
10:00 WITA – Rest & Refresh
Back in Labuan Jambu Village, you’ll have a short break to rest and freshen up. There are basic toilet and washroom facilities available before we begin the land journey back to Sumbawa Besar.
12:30 WITA – Arrival at Sumbawa Besar
We’ll arrive back in the town around midday. If you’d like to stop for lunch before returning to your accommodation, our guide will be happy to recommend and accompany you to a local restaurant (meal cost not included).
Afterward, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, ending a truly once-in-a-lifetime marine adventure in Sumbawa.

Please note: Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. In the rare case of no whale shark sightings, we offer a partial refund of IDR 1,000,000 per person from your total payment.
Lunch is not included, but our guide will recommend local options and accompany you upon request.
